Legendary Cowan Street Beansprout Chicken | 高温街芽菜鸡 @ Ipoh [Non-Halal]

Ever since the attack by keyboard warriors on the “ Hishiko Woo Summoned Deity Issue ”, my will to blog has been rekindled and thanks to the virality of the post, it reached around 800 views in 4 days. It might not be a huge deal for you, because 800 views are like peanuts on social media like Facebook, Instagram and especially TikTok. But for a dying blogging culture, it is considered another humble milestone for my underrated small bloggie. Ăn Viet, A Localised Vietnamese Cuisine Created In Malaysia @Sunway Pyramid

This is crazy, my last updates on foodie posts, were on Tealive Boba Ice-Cream, and Family Mart Onigiri. Those were not even actual restaurant reviews. In fact, my last review on a restaurant, was on Feb 19, 2021, on Tauge Ayam Lou Wong. It can’t be helped because in 2019, COVID came and still remains until now. Actually, I have been through some turmoil – Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Since it is kinda like the #endemics in Malaysia, perhaps, it is time to join the travelling and food hunting trips with my friends and family. Time to revive my posts on travelling and makan , else viewership has been horrible in the past 2 years.

Anyhow, when having food in outdoors, we must still always take care of ourselves #kitajagakita. This time around, my friend asked to me (over 2 years did not meet thanks to COVID) at Sunway Pyramid. The crowd was a bit crazy that day. So, we randomly went into a restaurant called Ăn Viet (Eat Viet). Okay, this was actually not a new restaurant, as it was launched in 2017. First of all, let me talk about the décor, the restaurant was clean and renovated with simple decorations. I love the wooden feel of the interior, and the menus as well.

After getting the menu, we noticed that we can decide the food portion, as their initiative #2good2waste was quite good. I have ordered the dripping Vietnamese coffee along with the grilled pork chop with rice. While my friends ordered the grilled lemongrass chicken set and noodle set.

About the drink, it tasted quite okay (it could have tasted more Vietnamese), just of course, slightly pricey for the portion to be honest. Even though it is in the mall, I think price/ portion can be adjusted reasonably.

The grilled pork chop rice set was in great portion with the price tag. Typically, it came with a rice with fried egg on top. The set dishes were the lala soup, with the Vietnamese spring roll with its sauce. Let’s start the food review! The grilled pork had a great flavouring, with large portions. Despite the slight dryness to the meat, overall, I enjoyed the taste. Just that, I would prefer it was more juicy.

The noodle bowl was pretty good, with the texture and sauce/ light broth (which I had a hard time to taste out the ingredient). It was very refreshing, as I was more exposed to Pho. This dish did surprise me!

The grilled lemongrass chicken unfortunate was over-grilled to our tastes. Despite the flavour and the smell were just nice, the grilled skin tasted a bit of “charcoal”

Okay, moving to the next, the lala soup was considered not bad as a side dish, I loved how the soup gotten my appetite better. As for the spring roll, the vegetable used was very fresh too, very much to our likings.

All and all, the ratings considered quite good! We were satisfied with the tastes of the food, but it could be more “Vietnamese” actually. The price was slightly higher but it was complemented with the good service. Totally worth the visit !
