Legendary Cowan Street Beansprout Chicken | 高温街芽菜鸡 @ Ipoh [Non-Halal]

Ever since the attack by keyboard warriors on the “ Hishiko Woo Summoned Deity Issue ”, my will to blog has been rekindled and thanks to the virality of the post, it reached around 800 views in 4 days. It might not be a huge deal for you, because 800 views are like peanuts on social media like Facebook, Instagram and especially TikTok. But for a dying blogging culture, it is considered another humble milestone for my underrated small bloggie. Being A Tourist in My Hometown at Perak Cave Temple | 怡保霹雳洞

Hey there, my fellow blogger readers, if you still exist or around. It has been a crazy while I blogged about travelling related posts. The cruelty I faced from my PhD programme still has some residual impacts on me, to be less "aggressive" in life, and perhaps age is catching up as well, being in my Mid-30s. Anyhow, I am picking up a bit at one time. This touristy post has been drafted so long. So, today, we're embarking on a local journey through the magnificent Perak Cave Temple in Ipoh Perak Malaysia.

These captivating limestone caves hold a wealth of history and charm, and you won't believe what me and my fellow colleague who was so happened to be from China stumbled upon during our explorations. Looking at the first picture, she saw the name "Hu Shih Written" or "胡適题". For my past 30 years in Ipoh, I totally have no idea on the naming of Perak Cave! This famous landmark in Ipoh was kinda named by a famous China politician. Knowledge added moment!

There are numerous Mandarin poetic phrases were written down on the temple pillars. Too bad, my Mandarin is not the best, as Ipohrians are more well-versed in Cantonese. But, for Chinese poetries enthusiast, this temple should be on your must-visit list! Once you head inside, the interior would be in another world! A gallery of Chinese Deities and Gods are painted on the wall of the cave, with their own tales. It was said that these caves were once a secret hideout for rebels during the tumultuous past, adding an exciting touch of mystery to our adventure. (Sorry for the bad quality image, as this was taken many many years ago with my old compact camera). But as you can see, despite the low quality image, the interior was very mesmerizing with the light penetrating inside the cave.

Now, brace ourselves for the ultimate test of stamina - climbing a hundred steps of stairs to reach the top! (I do no recall how many steps we took, but it was worth it!). Oh yeah, I think they also changed on the donation for access. Last time, it was actually completely free to climb the hill, but this time around, they placed a donation box at the beginning of the trail. It was kinda mandatory nowadays. Along the way, the hills were blessed with beautiful limestones and even a monkey if you can spot it.

We huffed, we puffed, and we wheezed, but boy, was it worth it! As we reached the summit, the panoramic view of Ipoh spread out before our eyes like a breathtaking canvas. We could see the city's hustle and bustle below, as well as the lush greenery that embraced it. The sight was so magnificent that we momentarily forgot about our burning calf muscles and stood in awe!
