I never thought that my 1st post in 2020, was about the negativity of social media. 7 months later from my previous, how irony! What are social media? It is a form of World Wide Web applications which can be used to connect people from around the world. Of course, the benefits of connection, business and even social developments are tremendously, which I do not really need to address. Today, I just feel like penning down some of my experiences on social media. My very very first social media used was FRIENDSTER (oh yeah ancient history), and then blogger. Along the way, there are myspace, hi5, wretch.cc, and eventually Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter.
But, does social media really help to connect? Yes, mostly shallow relationship. In fact, due to the possibility of meeting people from different countries, everything is very much fast-paced. If you are happy with the person, post and share and brag. If you grow unhappy person, unfriend, block and forget. That's the new form of social media. I am becoming a norm like this as well, ....
It is now ever so easy to be judgemental. Oh, look at that person's action, let's viral it. Of course, it is our own social media, we can choose to who do we want to share with.
Firstly, I am a bitchy person in person and on social media. When I choose to bitch behind doors, mean I don't really want to argue with rude people, that's all.
Not that I am backdoor and backside, or pussy (as scolded by an ignorant Malay girl). It was just my choice to rant behind your back. Yet a busybody bitch just informed them about my private post (which I also said, please forward to them if she wanted). If everything needs confrontation, life will be very tiresome. So, I did confront that person, she just kept quiet and hid behind the Queen. You can find that my aggressiveness was caused by you. So, you belittle and laugh at me, I strike back, you call me "Mean"? That's all fake and condescending.
No.1: Be Bitchy Polite
If you want to remain a beautiful image, you better do a great job by remaining. Today, social media is a sign of identity. If you post any nonsense, racism and even discrimination stuffs, you might suffer the consequence. Yes, I am asking you to be fake, but fake to be polite. You can dislike the body shape of one person, annoy by the replies, but still try to be courteous.
No.2: Be Humble
You don't know it all. Even today, as a so-called "highly-educated" person in the this world, I always find myself lacking. I am expert in one field, but not in everthing. But, every day, I learnt new things and it contents me. It is no longer where you cannot find information like the older days. Be humble and learn more. People give you advice, listen. Don't say I DIDN'T ASK FOR IT. These are some of the responses I got from the age group from 22 - 28 recently.
No.3: Be Understanding
We grew up differently, and with the COVID19 plaquing the world, we should be more understanding. A few years ago, when I was younger, I was a bit too opinionated with my arguments. There are a lot issues in grey areas. For instance, your skin and my skin are different. Doesn't mean that I have no idea of skincare. Do you know what you are putting on your face? If you disagree, reject with grace but not with sarcasm.You can be sarcastic in your personal posts, not the replies. Younger people who know courtesy, can move further.
No.4: Be Known or Be Unknown
I am not asking you to be famous like KOL, fake influencer or even fake celebrities. Be known for something positive rather than, something fake. This is deep, but not many people can master that. For instance, the busybody lady got 30k followers on Instagram, but each post only 100 - 300 likes....Someone who is blind also could see her account is genuine or not. People who are intelligence, will understand what's FAKE INFLUENCER. If you want to be low profile, just remain to be unknown. Nobody needs to know everything with your life too. Choose your own life.
No.5: Be Bitchy Direct if Required
Okay, honestly, bitchy doesn't seem to ring positivity. So, I just changed to be direct if required. There are some people born to be ignorant. We need to know when we meet this kind of human beings. No point to further argue, just K.O. them and say goodbye. I really don't lack of negative people around me at all. One less, means better by one. I used to despise unfriend/ block function, but nowadays, I really care less to strangers who are spreading negativity in my page. Just block those hypocrites and horrible people from your life, and drink tea.
