Freaky in 2003 But It Got Freakier in Fridays in 2025 💫

OK… confession time 😅 Feeling extremely guilty in 2025 because I’ve only managed to post two blog posts here so far. With the help of Chatgpt, I am being honest, at least I can start to blog more. It seemed that I have a huge writer's block nowadays. As I got older, penning down something random without overthinking is much more difficult. Tiny Planets Made From Your Phone (^^)

Oh crap, I missed my own blog anniversary on the 1st of Jan 2019, bad owner I am! I can't believe I abandon my bloggie like that again. Nowadays, blogs are basically a dying trend........

Anyhow, I first discovered how to take a TINY PLANET photosphere using my Google Nexus 4 phone. Using phones to do this can be quite troublesome and result in inaccurate 360° photosphere stitch. Therefore, nowadays, there comes a 360° camera which saves a lot effort and time in processing the image. But still, as I am a frugal guy and I do enjoy spending my time taking 360° using my handphone, I still stick to my now-Samsung Note 5 to do this.

The steps are pretty much very simple:

  1. If you use your handphone camera, you can download apps or use the phone built-in system (so far, I have no problem using Note 5). But the issue with handphone, unlike 360 ° (Ricoh), is that the tiles might be missing from your image stitching which cause distortion in the image. 
  2. For me, my second step is to fix the problem by post-processing to remove my own shadow, abnormal stitch, incomplete structure, etc in photoshop
  3. Thirdly, you can either use photoshop to create the tiny planets, by following the steps (here) or upload the fixed image to an apps. 
  4. There are currently two apps, I am using, one is Small Planet and another one is Tiny Planet Maker. Personally, I really love Small Planet app as it allows 360° rotation as well as distortion of image, but beware of its low resolution. 
  5. After completing all steps, you can upload to instagram, facebook, etc.
