Saying Goodbye to Twilightzone518 – The TwilightMan
I have not been a very good blogger—my last update was a while ago, on an Ipohboytech story about Blogger Apps Review. Nonetheless, I’ve decided to split my content more clearly moving forward:
- Ipohboymedia → Media / Technology / Entertainment / News
- Ipohboyjourney → Personal Shopping Experience / Movie / Life / Food / Travel
But today, I return with some sad news I stumbled upon in August 2025. It took me a while to pen down my feelings as it still felt unreal, so here it is in my Ipohboylife storytelling mode.
Blogging Days and Blogwalking Culture
Back in the early days of the internet, when blogging and microblogging were the heart of “social media,” we bloggers had our own unique culture. One of the most popular was blogwalk or bloghop. We would visit each other’s blogs, leave comments, and often ask for return visits. It wasn’t just about boosting traffic—it was fun, and it built real connections.
In August 2025, while checking my Blogger stats, I noticed most of my traffic now comes from Facebook link shares, followed by other social media platforms. But one source caught my eye: twilightzone518.blogspot.com.
Immediately, I thought of TwilightMan, the author behind Twilightzone518. I remembered how he used to blogwalk to my site, often teasing me whenever I was slow to update.
A Sudden Realisation
Out of curiosity, I clicked on his link. To my surprise, his last update was on May 3, 2024. In that post, he shared about his battle with cancer and the painful treatments he endured.
Looking back, I realised he had been less active since 2020, with his last travel updates before going on hiatus. It wasn’t until 2024 that he opened up about his illness. Sadly, I had not been active in bloghopping either, so I completely missed this.
Then, I discovered a post from May 22, 2024, where a fellow blogger announced his passing, along with details of the wake. I was in shock. To me, he was always strong, cheerful, and present in the blogging world.
A Friendship Beyond the Screen
For over 10 years, we never met in person nor had long conversations. Yet, this platonic friendship through blogging lasted even as blogging itself began losing its charm.
It may be a year too late, but still—goodbye, TwilightMan. May you rest in peace.
